Policy Talks are how Pillar supports the network to work together on viable solutions to our sector’s and our community’s problems. In 2024, we are working together to assemble a BIG PICTURE of our sector and our community by combining and assembling our many stories like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

  1. an upcoming proposal to de-fund Capital and Innovation Community Grants from 2025-2027
  2. ongoing erosion of trust between the sector and recent City Councils

The budgets are in – the federal budget, the provincial budget, and the City’s 2024-27 Multi-Year Budget. As a sector, we had real influence -- but we didn't get everything we want, nor everything our communities need.

So what does it mean for the nonprofit sector and the communities we serve? What kind of year will we have? How will we live? Is there anything we can do about it?

BPW London Doris Hall and former BPW London and now BPW Bowmanville member Sheila Crook have been part of a team working for the past two years on their IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access Solutions) project with funding from WAGE (Women and Gender Equality Canada). Many BPW members from across Canada have participated in the project.
